The Perfect Sales Letter

Before you actually write the e-book we are going to write the sales letter first. Now I suggest you write it in Microsoft Word and save it. Then we can transfer it to the main ‘Sales site Page’ when we are designing our basic site in step 5

The main reason we are writing our sales copy before we ever write a word in our e-Book is because it hasn’t actually being created yet, which means there is absolutely no limit what you can write in your sales letter. The sales letter doesn’t fit the e-Book; it’s the other way around.

Now you can describe exactly what your e-Book will show to the potential customer. There are no restrictions on what you can write in the sales letter. When the sales letter is completed you can then incorporate all the ideas you have come up with into your e-Book

Your sales copy must do the following three things

Get the attention of the prospects
Communicate the benefits of the product
Persuade the prospects into the desired action

Remember the most important part of your page design is your actual sales copy. A fancy website and graphics help but the key is in the words used

Sales letter Structure

Header/Title
Promises
Testimonial
Info product
Benefit
Bonuses
Guarantee
Summary

This is the structure that you should use for your sales copy. If you check out the best sales letter they will all follow this formula?

Header

The main function of the header/title is to grab the reader’s attention. The header should be displayed in a large, bold font. This demands your potential customer’s attention and intrigues them to read further on. Include your logo or e-Book cover (discussed later on) close to the header. If you header is not well designed you run the risk of losing the potential customer straight away. Spend time creating your header.

A Promise

This section promises the potential customer a huge benefit which is almost too good to be true. It’s ok if it’s a bit too unbelievable the testimonials will take care of that. Here is an example of such a headline

Discover how my 5 step affiliate programme can increase your income by 10,000 a month

Testimonials

In this section you include testimonials that old/new customers have sent you about your product or service. You probably don’t have any customers yet so email some potential ones your e-book for free in exchange for a testimonial. When you do start selling you can always ask a new customer for one.

Now the testimonials page has assured the potential customer that you can fulfil the promises you made in your header also you have gained a bit of trust from your potential customers so anything else you say that follows the testimonials page will be taken as true. This is the reason why the testimonial is placed at the top to gain trust right away where if it was placed at the bottom after presenting some good sales copy it may be already too late.

Info and product

In this section you will give info on what your product or service is about. You should show your customers a list of problems in this area. Agree with the customers, on how frustrating these problems can be and how you, yourself dealt with these problems. The key is to show the person that you have a deep understanding in this area and you are an expert on the subject. That is very important.

Next you must introduce your product as the solution to the problem. Then you must have a proper e-Book cover design. This is crucial. Many people have never purchased an e-book so you must give them some idea what exactly they will be purchasing

Benefit
This section is basically telling your potential customer of the benefits they will receive from purchasing your product. Show your potential customers the enjoyment they will get from using the product. Give them as much information on your product as you can. Use bullet points to emphasize the benefits. Put in another testimonial just to remind the person that it’s all true. Keeping their trust is highly important.

Bonuses

This is a powerful tactic used to increase sales. Including free bonuses with the purchase of your e-Book will increase the perceived value of the e-Book. Also a deadline on bonuses is also a good way to speed up consumer purchases. Bonuses also reduce the risk of money back returns

Guarantee

Offering a guarantee to your potential customers takes the risk off their shoulders. A good guarantee is the final bit in the jigsaw that will make the person finally purchase the product. The agreement is such that if the customer is not happy with their purchases then can get a full refund. You must remember that lots of your potential customers will be ‘first timers’ therefore a guarantee puts their minds at ease. Guarantees can be 30 day, 60 day, or lifetime; however such guarantees must be backed up with an exceptional product.

Summary

This is one of the most important steps in the sales letter; this is where you close the sale. In this section you must include your most appealing benefit and finally ask for the order, because if you don’t they wont. Finally make it easier for them to order like an ‘order now’ button shown below.

At this stage you should start to write your sales letter in Microsoft word we will concentrate on the html design and implementing the sales letter in it in section six but for now just concern yourself with writing your sales letter. Customized Sales Letter

What is the main purpose of using a Sales Letters Software?

It walks you step-by-step through creating your own 100% completely customized sales letter.
people really need a software program that just walks them through the whole formula step-by-step.

When you’re done, it spits out a nicely formatted sales letter you can use on your web site. It’s only as good as the data you input. But it will walk you through it all and make it as easy as humanly possible. Even if you aren’t a good writer, you’re going to find sales letter software will amazes you.

What is the main benefit of your Sales Letter Generator Software?

The HEART of your web site is your sales letter. Look around and you’ll see very few people get or understand this. They have web sites that never use a sales letter anywhere. If they took their web site, printed it and mailed it out in direct mail, it would never make a dime. But what the software does is FORCE you to write a drop dead, killer sales letter. By that I mean it practically does it for you. You just follow the process, input the data and enjoy the result.

Am I guaranteed to make money with the sales letter produced by the software?

No. All business involves risk of gain and loss. If you can’t handle the potential for loss, don’t play the game.
You may not make a dime. And you may get rich. Chances are, you’ll fall somewhere between those two extremes. The sales letter is only one factor in your success.

What separates your Sales Letter Generator Software from the other how to products on the market?

The ad copy/sales letter software takes things to an all new level. No one has ever done something like this before. Certainly not in this software because the software employs a special proprietary ad copy formula.
No one else has that unless they ripped it off from the product,

Will the formula work for my product? It’s different.

Every product you can think of will work with this software. As long as you have to explain your features and benefits to potential buyers, it applies to you.

Will this write a sales letter for a lead generation business like mine?

Yes. It works for lead generation and direct product sales.

Why does it create a letter and not an ad? The letter format is what works because it’s personal. People want to buy from a person, not an impersonal entity.

Keys To Writing A Sales Letter

When writing sales letters that sell, there are 11 key ingredients that must be applied. But first you ‘Must” determine who will receive your sales message. This is crucial to the success of your sales letter. The who is the most important ingredient in your marketing campaign. You can send an average sales letter to a great list and have a decent response. On the other hand, you cannot send a great sales letter to a bad list and expect a good response. You must match the ‘Right’ message to the ‘Right’ audience with the ‘Right’ media.

You must know whom you’re talking to in your sales letter. Are they men or women? Are they older or younger? Are they affluent or middle class? Do they own a home or rent? What are the demographics of your perfect client or customer? Understanding this will give you the best opportunity for success when writing a sales letter that sells.

Here are the ‘Key’ ingredients to writing a sales letter that sells.

Writing a Sales Letter Key # 1: The Headline must grab the reader’s attention and make them want to know more. The headline is the most important ingredient when writing your sales letter. If you mess this up, it’s GAME OVER! Your headline must provoke curiosity or state benefits to the reader. Example . . . Let’s say you’re selling a product to expecting women. Here’s a headline that would grab their attention. ‘7 Secrets Expecting Moms Need To Know About Their Pregnancy That Their Doctors Aren’t Telling Them. Most expecting mom’s would ‘Stop’ what they were doing and want to know more about this headline.

Writing Sales Letter Key # 2: When writing your sales letter, make sure you personalize the salutation. This will give you higher readership. People love to hear and see their name. It’s been tested and proven to increase response. Example . . . Dear Mary, NOT Dear Customer. Use their first name and you’ll increase your readership and response.

Writing Sales Letter Key # 3: You can have a picture of you or your product in the upper left hand corner of your sales letter. Or a picture that ties into your sales message. We did a sales letter for salon owners, where we had a picture of people combing through the woods, looking for lost customers. The headline said . . . Janet, Have You Been Taken Hostage? We Haven’t Seen You In Our Salon In Months, So We Sent Out A Search Party To Find You. This sales letter received a twenty-three percent response from their old customer list.

Writing Sales Letter Key # 4: When writing your sales letter, don’t be boring. People are so inundated with sales messages all day that it takes creative marketing to get noticed. So, if you can make your sales letter interesting and fun, this automatically gives you market dominance.

Writing Sales Letter Key # 5: Your ‘Body Copy’ should state your customers ‘Problem.’ What are their fears? What keeps them awake at night? Next, you need to agitate the problem your customer is having. And last, you need to show the customers/clients how your product or service can solve their situation. Make sure you tell them about the benefits your product or service provides. Your customers or clients only cares about what’s in it for them. Benefits, Benefits, Benefits!

Writing a Sales Letter Key # 6: You must have an irresistible offer. Give your reader a reason to buy what you’re offering. Make your offer so irresistible that they’d swing from a rotten vine across a snake filled pit of venomous vipers to obtain your product or service.

Writing a Sales Letter Key # 7: Make sure you have a deadline in your sales letter to get your customers/clients to respond immediately. Example . . . You must respond by 4/3/2008, to receive this incredible offer.

Writing Sales Letter Key # 8: Creating scarcity in your sales letter will also get your prospects or customers to respond quickly.

Writing Sales Letter Key # 9: Make sure you show your prospects or customers the value in buying today. What is the actual cost if purchased today as opposed to what they will pay if they procrastinate? Example . . . If you respond by next Thursday, you’ll save forty percent off the original price of $49.95. That’s a $20 Savings! If you miss out, you’ll pay ‘Full’ price.

Writing Sales Letter Key # 10: Always have a P.S. at the end of your sales letters. When people receive letters in the mail, their first instinct is to find out who sent it. So they look at the end of the sales letter, and 95% of the time they read the P.S. first. Your P.S. must restate the offer, the deadline, or both.

Writing Sales Letter Key # 11: Add testimonials to all your sales letters for credibility. This will increase sales and response.

Finally, when writing your sales letter, make sure you’re talking to one person. Your sales letter should sound personal, as though it came from a friend.

A Successful Sales Letter

Our friend Dave called last night, he’s started a small engine repair business and he asked us to review a sales letter he’d written. Dave’s letter was actually pretty good; the only problem was that it did not give a really good reason why anyone should do business with him! There was no incentive; no “special introductory offer”; no inducement for anyone to dash to the phone and call him. Of course we offered to rewrite the letter.

The number one objective for a sales letter is - get the letter read. And the second is to persuade the reader to take an action and start a business relationship.

How do you do this? First, create a powerful headline with an immediate clear benefit for the reader, not some wishy-washy “Hi, here we are” statement. Ask a question that shows you understand their needs, “Are you still looking for someone who can guarantee your mower, tractor, trimmer, cultivator or compactor will be ready to work when you are?” This show’s you understand their needs and are not just jumping into a “rah rah” selling pitch.

Then tell them you have the solution, “Our 10 point small engine tune-up will keep you running strong all summer longwe absolutely guarantee it.”

Give them your business credentials. Dave could say, “I’ve been repairing all makes of lawn and garden equipment for over 15 years and I love it!” Now offer them something they can use, in other words: tell them what’s in it for them if they buy your product or use your service right away. Don’t be afraid to be bold. Use capitals, underline, or bold typelet the offer leap off the page so that if they read nothing else, they’ll at least see the offer you’re making. “Take advantage of our FREE ‘get-to-know-us’ offer”

Now add some credibilitypeople want to know what others say about you, so tell themadd two or three testimonials.

Be sure your letter has a high interest factor by adding some free advice or tips and tricks. Dave could tell how to make an engine run better by selecting proper fuel mixtures or how to keep a lawnmower blade sharp.

Clearly state what the next action should be and give them a reason why it’s important to act right away. “Be sure you’re ready for the growing seasoncall us NOW!”

Use plain language and don’t use language that you would not normally usebe sure it sounds like you. Thank the reader for reading your letter and sign it personally. If you know the reader, add a note at the bottom in your own handwriting.

Last, add a P.S. This is a great place to reiterate the offer and maybe even sweeten the deal. “Take advantage of our FREE ‘get-to-know-us’ offer by April 30th and we’ll throw in a free tank of gas for your mower or tractor.”

Of course you must have a good list to send this out toone that is accurate and up-to-date. Sending a great letter to a non-existent person is a waste of time, so phone your contacts before you mail and make sure your list is up to date.

Do a test. Send out a few dozen per week, and follow up by phone. Vary the offer and see what happens.

Sales Letter Controversial

I have observed some very effective and compelling sales letter and discovered that they have a common characteristic.
All of them are written with strong, opinionated words.

This should be the way you write your sales copy, I think.

You want to slap (mentally, not physically) people in the head to capture their attention so that you can present something useful to them.

Some will love you for who you are while other will hate you.

Heck, do you care?

Understand this…

Good marketing is offensive.

As long as you make the money from those that love you again and again, then you can be very very rich indeed.

Let’s face it. Not everyone will like you even if you are a Mr Nice guy.

Look at the Rich Jerk.

He is selling his products like crazy by highlighting the fact that most of you are poor and that he is filthy rich.

In order to be rich like him, you need to buy his wealth creation product.

And he telegraph the fact that he did not need your money any way, that you are doing yourself a favour by buying his product.

Though he talk and market like a real jerk, still many people buy from him.

Why?

People wish they could be as outspoken as the rich jerk, that direct, that blunt. They cry for freshness in their lives.

The world is filled with people who are crying for leadership and direction.

They want to be told what to do even though they act as though they are not.

You can be opinionated and controversial in your own way, maybe not the rich jerk way.

People will respect you for being that straightforward, non-sugarcoating approach.

When you write a sales copy, speak what you want from the heart. Be yourself.

This way, your sales copy will contain a personality flavoring, truly yours.

People can sense it.
